Quick summary
- Ahmedabad has three kinds of pools: municipal (AMC) pools with registered batches, club pools mostly for members and their guests, and resort pools that day visitors can use through day packages.
- The AMC runs 21 municipal pools, which drew more than 15,000 swimmers a day during the May 2026 summer rush, according to an IANS report.
- "Open now" depends on session slots and closed days, which differ by pool. For example, the Vasna municipal pool is listed as closed on Thursdays and the Vastral pool on Sundays.
- For a same-day swim without registration, a resort day package near the city is usually the easiest option; message the property first.
- Carry nylon or lycra swimwear; most pools do not allow cotton clothes.
When you search "swimming pool near me" in Ahmedabad, the nearest pool on the map is not always one you can use today. Municipal pools work on batches, clubs need membership, and resorts sell day packages. This guide explains each, how to check "open now", and what to carry. To find resort pools that take day visitors, start with the Ahmedabad swimming pool listings.
What types of swimming pools can you use in Ahmedabad?
There are three types. AMC municipal pools are run by the city and work on batches for registered swimmers. Club pools at places like Karnavati Club or Rajpath Club are mainly for members and their guests. Resort pools on the city's edge sell day packages that include pool access, often with meals and games.
| Pool type | Who can swim | How access works | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| AMC municipal pool | Registered swimmers in batches | Register, then attend your batch | Daily laps, learning, kids' coaching |
| Club pool | Members and their guests | Membership or a member's invitation | Regular swimmers who want facilities |
| Resort pool | Day visitors with a package | Day package, booked by message or call | Family days, groups, one-off swims |
A day package is a fixed-time resort visit that bundles entry, meals and usually pool access, without an overnight room.
How do AMC municipal pools work?
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation runs 21 pools, according to an IANS report from 6 May 2026. Swimmers attend batches; the report mentions advanced batches for competitive children, evening learner sessions for over-12s from 7:30 to 8:15 PM, a batch for experienced swimmers from 8:15 to 9:00 PM, and a morning mixed batch reserved for women.
The report adds that water is tested daily, coaching staff act as lifeguards, and online registration is being developed. Summer batches average over 100 swimmers, so weekday mornings at a resort or club are calmer. Check current fees and forms at the pool office.
How do you check if a pool is open now?
Check the session slot, the weekly closed day and any maintenance closure. Each pool sets its own hours, as these listings show, so call or message before you set out.
| Pool (as listed) | Area | Listed hours | Closed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vasna Municipal Swimming Pool | Vasna | 6:00 – 9:00 AM and 1:00 – 7:15 PM | Thursday |
| Praful Natwar Barot AMC Swimming Pool | Vastral | Tue–Sat 6:00 – 10:45 AM, 2:00 – 2:45 PM, 5:30 – 10:30 PM; Mon 9 AM – 5 PM | Sunday |
| EKA Club | Kankaria, Gate 3 | Weekdays 6:00 – 11:00 AM; weekends 6:00 AM – 12:00 PM | Confirm with the club |

Quick "open now" checklist
- Is there a slot starting in the next hour, and is it for your level (learner, experienced, women, kids)?
- Is today the pool's closed day?
- Is the pool closed for cleaning, competitions or the monsoon?
- Do you need to register first, or can you pay for a single visit?
Which pools can you use today without a membership?
Resort pools with day packages are the most reliable same-day option, as long as you message first. In the Ahmedabad area, Gulmohar Greens Golf & Country Club, Greenwoods Lake Resort & Spa and Roadies Rostel ARC Resort list pool access inside their day picnic packages on Bookaday, as of October 2026.
| Resort | Location | Day package window (as listed) | Pool facilities listed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gulmohar Greens Golf & Country Club | SG Highway, near Sanand | 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM | Pool, locker rooms |
| Greenwoods Lake Resort & Spa | Near Vaishnodevi Circle, SG Highway | Full day 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM | Outdoor pool |
| Roadies Rostel ARC Resort | Ahmedabad–Mahemdavad highway | From 8:30 AM; plans to 10:00 PM | Pool, lockers |
None publishes pool-only entry, so ask. Our guide to resorts with swimming pools near Ahmedabad compares them in detail.
Pay-per-visit or monthly membership: which suits you?
Pay per visit if you swim occasionally or want a family day out; choose a monthly batch or membership if you swim three or more times a week. Rates vary by pool, season and age, so ask each pool directly rather than relying on old figures online.
| You are… | Better fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Swimming 3 or more times a week | AMC batch or club membership | Regular slots and coaching |
| Learning as an adult | AMC learner batch or club coaching | Structured lessons |
| A family wanting one fun day | Resort day package | Pool, food and games together |
For club options and how guest access works, see the Ahmedabad club listings.
What should you carry, and what are the swimwear rules?
Most pools require nylon or lycra swimwear and do not allow cotton T-shirts, shorts or leggings. Cotton sheds fibres that clog filters, soaks up pool chemicals, can bring in detergents and germs, and gets heavy in the water.
- Nylon or lycra swimsuit or trunks; a swim cap if the pool asks for one
- Towel, slippers and a bag for wet clothes
- ID and registration card for AMC or club pools
Safety: shower first, avoid swimming right after a heavy meal, and always watch children in the water.
